Due to the COVID-19 crisis, all Enfants du Monde teams are mobilised to adapt our programmes, in collaboration with our partners on the spot and the Ministries of Health, in order to protect our beneficiaries and our staff, support health systems and redirect our activities as the situation develops in the countries where we work.

What is the impact on the countries where we work?

Health services in the countries where Enfants du Monde is active (such as Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Niger, El Salvador…) are fragile, poorly funded, poorly organised and are unprepared to provide specialised care for adequate management of severe COVID-19 cases. Health centres and hospitals will be quickly overwhelmed, especially since intensive care services are few in number and under-equipped.

This is why Enfants du Monde, through its local partners, is currently focussing its efforts on implementing infection prevention and control measures in health facilities; developing effective communication at community level; and reinforcing coordination for preparedness and response to an epidemic of COVID-19.

How do we adapt our programmes?

Health programmes

In order to provide the necessary support to the Ministries of Health in the face of the current health crisis, Enfants du Monde, in collaboration with its local partners, has adapted its health programmes to meet urgent needs.

Education Programmes

In Guatemala, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Benin, the schools we support are closed and teacher training is suspended. We are now thinking of alternative solutions – such as educational radio broadcasts for example – so that children can continue to follow lessons or distance learning (virtual) for teachers. In addition, our teams anticipate catch-up sessions as soon as schools are re-opened.
