Recently, our health specialist Cecilia Capello returned from a mission in Bangladesh. There, she met the BRAC organization with which Enfants du Monde will implement its health program in 2019 and 2020.

Our health specialist Cecilia Capello at BRAC's office in Bangladesh. With our regional coordinator Rakib Ahsan, Cecilia participated in a three-day workshop at BRAC's Dhaka office. An opportunity for our team to better understand the work of this organization, how it works and to get to know the people who will be its liaison. Enfants du Monde took the opportunity to clarify the objectives of its long-term commitment to Bangladesh, namely, the gradual integration of the health promotion principles in the maternal and neonatal health policy of the country. For this, she presented the basic principles of the strategy «Collaborating with individuals, families and communities to improve maternal and newborn health (IFC)» developed by WHO and promoted by our organization as part of the health programs it supports around the world.

During the workshop, the two teams also agreed on an action plan to implement training in the areas of health promotion and maternal and neonatal health rights, initially intended for BRAC staff, and subsequently for public health workers. The objective is to strengthen the involvement of community groups and ensure their participation in assessing the quality of maternal and neonatal care to improve health services and women's experience in care received during their pregnancy and childbirth.

The mission of our specialist Cecilia Capello in Bangladesh went very well. She returned to Geneva pleased with this first step in collaborating with the BRAC organization. Our health specialist highlighted the cordial welcome, the fruitful exchanges, as well as the solid field experience within the communities that our new health partner benefits from.
