27.06.2017 – Since the beginning of 2017, Enfants du Monde has intervened in East Central Bangladesh in the district of Brahmanbaria. The association was, until then, present in the North of the country in the Netrokona district to improve access to, and the quality of care for pregnant women, women, and babies.
This extension of Enfants du Monde’s health project is important as, each year, in this country of 160 million inhabitants; thousands of children lose their mothers.
As a matter of fact, 176 out of 100,000 women die of complications associated with pregnancy or childbirth.

Thanks to awareness classes, women and their families can prepare for the birth, be more aware of danger signs, and be better equipped when faced with emergency situations. Furthermore, the doctors and nurses will be trained in order to better advise, and be there for their patients.

In 2017, Enfants du Monde allows more than 60'000 women in Bangladesh to experience a reduced risk pregnancy and childbirth.
