Maksuda education project Bangladesh17.02.2015 – Maksuda, an 11-year-old, lives in utter poverty in a slum of Dhaka. But she is lucky because, instead of having to work, she can go to school. In fact, Maksuda is among the more than 1000 children attending one of the four schools that Enfants du Monde has recently been supporting in the slums of Dhaka.

Education in these schools is free and students are guaranteed a hot meal for lunch. In class, students not only learn how to read and write, but also acquire many useful skills they need on their everyday lives, such as the basic hygiene rules and the rights of children. To ensure the courses’ quality and their relevance to the context and the needs of the children, Enfants du Monde and its local partner also provide training for the teachers.

Still, many of the children form the Dhaka slums are not as lucky as Maksuda and her classmates. With your support, we can bring a quality primary education to these children that will allow them to carve out a better future for themselves.
