Balkissa est une bénéficiaire du projet d'éducation d'Enfants du Monde au Burkina Faso13.06.2013 - Although significant progress has been made in Burkina Faso in terms of access to education, major challenges - improving the quality of education, reducing serious disparities at regional level and between the sexes - still remain. This is why Enfants du Monde supports schools in rural areas and places particular emphasis on the integration and empowerment of girls.

This has made it possible for Balkissa, aged 12, to have access to a theoretical and practical education in her village, Ouidi, in Bazèga province. She is acquiring skills that are not only educational (reading, writing, counting), but also personal and social (self-confidence, the capacity to communicate and work in a group, etc.) and practical (to do with farming, water management, health, etc.).

“I learn lots of things at school! We do practical work to do with caring for livestock, cultivating crops and market gardening. All this prepares me for adult life and gives me the chance to help my family.”

In 2012, 212 children, including 98 girls, benefited from this programme.
