03.28.2012 - A Swiss national, Walo Suter, has offered a better future to many children, to girls in particular, by making a considerable donation. His generosity has made it possible to build a school in Guatemala and guarantee that it will stay open for the next three years.
Walo Suter has already helped many people during his life: through his job as a social worker and privately by making donations to various self-help programmes. “I am firmly convinced that a more caring, less selfish society would benefit mankind” he says.
Why has Walo Suter chosen to support Enfants du Monde? He searched on the Internet for an organisation which improved education in disadvantaged countries. “I want people to receive a better education which then enables them to sort out their problems themselves”, he says.
Thanks to Walo Suter, Institut maya K'amolb'e Walo Suter, the secondary school long awaited by Mayan communities, has recently opened its doors and takes over 50 young people aged 13 to 19. “By giving, I also receive”, says Walo Suter. “I am delighted to be able to help improve the lives of my fellow human beings.”
