une fille et un garçon lisent un texte au Niger04.19.2012 - In Niger, only three out of ten girls and four out of ten boys go to school.  This is why Enfants du Monde supports schools in the poor neighbourhoods of the country’s capital Niamey and the Northeastern region of Tahoua.  These schools are open to children between the ages of 9 to 13 who never went to school or left too early.

After several years of advocacy, our main partner in Niger, ONEN, has obtained the Ministry of Education’s agreement on the bridge principle, which enables children who successfully complete the school programme funded by Enfants du Monde to move on to state schools if they wish to do so.  It is a heartening recognition of the work accomplished.
