01.24.2011 - The Ministry of Health in El Salvador has started to reform the health sector based on the approach proposed by Enfants du Monde. This approach to health aims to better mobilise all the necessary resources both at the family and community level.

With this reform, the health programme supported by Enfants du Monde will be implemented at the national level. A health education approach centred on people being able to take care of themselves will be developed and a maternal and neonatal health surveillance system at the national level will be set up.

The “Working with individuals, families and communities to improve maternal and new-born health” approach (IFC) provides for activities such as health education workshops for pregnant women, mothers and their families, the improvement of community transportation, the improvement of the quality of care as well as preparation for birth and emergency situations.
