01.28.2011 - On Friday, January 28th, the newspaper “Le Courrier” published a page about the socioeconomic situation of Guatemala and the schools which Enfants du Monde supports in the North of the country. These articles are drafted by Martha Sandoval, journalist at “El Periódico”. She visited the schools supported by Enfants du Monde.
These schools are bilingual and multicultural and are managed by Enfants du Monde’s local partner, Xch’ool Ixim. The education which is dispensed is adapted to the culture of the Maya children but also open to the world. It is designed to improve their chances of development in their own society but also in the Guatemalan society. Almost 5'000 Mayan children benefit from this sort of quality education.
