04.20.2010 - There are still 72 million primary school age children as well as 71 million teenagers worldwide who cannot attend school. Unfortunately, the national revenues allocated to education are decreasing in most countries. This has become even worse in the aftermath of the global financial crisis.

The “1 Goal: Lesson for all” campaign, managed by the Global Campaign for Education, aims at calling for world leaders to keep their promises made in the year 2000, i.e. offer every child and adult a quality public education by 2015.

For the second year in a row, about 300 pupils from the Ecole de l’Europe in Geneva have joined forces with the Swiss network Education et Coopération, which Enfants du Monde is a member of. Aged between 4 and 12, they are to take part in the World Campaign for Education alongside with millions of children worldwide, supporting a commitment toward education for all and demanding the democratization of school access.

The “1 Goal: Lesson for all” campaign will take place in Geneva on Tuesday, 20 April 2010. The “Lesson for all”, a great simultaneous lesson on the importance of education, will be held at the Ecole de l’Europe (Avenue d’Aïre 42, 1203 Geneva).

The official part of the event will begin at 6.30 p.m. in the presence of Manuel Tornare, Geneva city executive, and Bernard Riedweg, director in charge of the Réseau d’Enseignement Prioritaire in the State of Geneva. The pupils will then present the results of the various workshops they took part in before the day of action, featuring rhythms, colors and flavors of Africa.
