18.02.2009 - From now on, a master’s degree in the «Pedagogy of the Text», an educational approach which was elaborated by the education team of Enfants du Monde and used in a number of educational experiences throughout the world, is offered by the public University of Antioqua, in Medellin, Colombia.
It is intended for educational professionals, coming from different parts of South America and who work in favour of the most vulnerable populations such as young people, natives, women, or small farmers. About 20 people have signed up for these studies which last 2 years and a half.
This master’s goal is to increase education's quality and especially teaching and learning processes. Contrarily to the education in European countries, teaching in the Southern countries still relies on inflexible methods, is too far from reality's necessities which leads to a high level of school desertion, a low level of success, and resisting illiteracy.
The «Pedagogy of the Text» encourages the learner (child, youth or adult) to participate actively in courses and to find specific solutions for problems instead of just learning lessons by heart without really understanding them. The «Pedagogy of the Text» is also taught at the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
